The Caravan Holiday Checklist: Your Essential Guide to Packing

There’s nothing quite like the freedom of a touring caravan break – setting your own pace, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying everything Lincolnshire’s beautiful coast and countryside have to offer. If you’re heading to Lakeside Park for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, you’re in for something special. With spacious holiday touring pitches, electric hook-up, access to top-quality facilities, and stunning natural surroundings, it’s the perfect place to relax and recharge.

To help you get organised, we’ve created this easy checklist for your stay at Lakeside Park. Here’s what you’ll want to bring – and what we already have covered for you.

Touring Caravan Essentials

Before you make your way to Lakeside Park, it’s important to check that your caravan and vehicle are fully prepared:

  • Caravan keys (plus a spare set just in case)
  • Towing mirrors (essential if your caravan is wider than your car)
  • Insurance and necessary documentation
  • Full gas bottles for heating and cooking
  • Fresh and wastewater carriers (our site offers disposal points)
  • Electric hook-up cable (essential – all our pitches have electric hook-up)
  • Levelling ramps for an easy setup
  • Wheel chocks and security locks (hitch locks, wheel clamps)
  • Basic tools (spanners, fuses, screwdrivers)

At Lakeside, you’ll find well-maintained hardstanding and grass pitches, modern amenities, and friendly staff on hand to help – but arriving prepared will make your first day even smoother.

Inside the Caravan: Make It Your Home-from-Home

Bringing a few home comforts will help you settle straight in:

  • Bedding (pillows, duvets, sleeping bags if needed)
  • Towels (for the shower blocks and for a dip in the heated pool – note towels can are provided within the pool as part of the admission although will need to be returned after use. )
  • Kitchen supplies (cutlery, crockery, mugs, pans, kettle)
  • Washing-up items (liquid, cloths, bin bags – waste points are easily accessible onsite)
  • Basic groceries (perfect for your first evening – however there’s a local shop and restaurant onsite just in case you need supplies!)
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo)

If your caravan has its own toilet, remember:

  • Toilet chemicals for safe waste disposal
  • Caravan-safe toilet paper

Don’t worry if you forget anything – our onsite shop stocks many of the basics!

Clothing Checklist: Be Ready for All Weathers

Lincolnshire’s coast is beautiful – but it’s wise to be ready for a little seaside breeze!

  • Daytime casual clothes
  • Smarter evening wear (perfect for dining at The Waterfront Clubhouse & Restaurant)
  • A waterproof jacket (for walks around the lakes or along the coast)
  • Walking shoes (great for the local trails)
  • Swimwear (for the outdoor pool or nearby beaches)
  • Warm jumpers or layers (even summer evenings can cool quickly)
  • Sun hats, sunglasses, and sun cream

Relaxation and Entertainment Must-Haves

Lakeside Park is made for leisurely days and relaxed evenings:

  • Books, e-readers, or magazines
  • Board games, cards, or family favourites
  • Laptop or tablet (there’s Wi-Fi throughout the park)
  • Chargers for all your tech
  • Camping chairs and a small table for outside your pitch
  • Fishing tackle (you’re welcome to fish in our beautiful lake)
  • Bikes (to explore the local lanes and coastal paths)

Getting Here: The Journey to Lakeside Park

Planning ahead makes arrival easy:

  • Sat nav or printed directions (we’re just a short hop from Sutton-on-Sea)
  • Road snacks and drinks for the drive
  • Details of your breakdown cover
  • Road trip playlists or audiobooks

With the coast, countryside, and traditional seaside towns like Mablethorpe close by, you’re perfectly placed for day trips and adventures.

Final Thought: Travel Light – and Relax!

Caravan space is valuable, so pack smart – use soft bags instead of hard suitcases, and know that if you need anything extra, it’s easy to find locally.

At Lakeside Park, you’ll find everything you need for a truly enjoyable touring holiday – from immaculate facilities and fantastic fishing lakes to a heated pool, children’s play area, and superb onsite dining. Whether you’re staying for a weekend or settling in for a week, we look forward to giving you the warmest Lakeside welcome.
